When my son was four years old, he became a chameleon who could merge interior and exterior different characters on the drop of your hat. I knew immediately whether he was Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook, or Prince Daniel from Swan Lake. He donned costumes most events of the season, bringing the benefits and excitement of Halloween to our house on a regular basis. We became immune to the silliness from it all, not batting an eye as he emerged from his bedroom wearing only his skivvies designed with a pirate hat, patch and sword, yelling, "Walk the plank!" We even added vinyl sketches to his playroom depicting a number of these famous characters.

Regarding his propensity to rework into various movie and book characters, his urge for control of all situations emerged. He was a man in charge of his domain, online resources his ship, the caller of the proverbial shots. Daily meals, tasks, and routines was a battle of wills between me and a four-year-old. I'd like to feel that I had the top of submit these daily negotiations, the highly educated, worldly woman that I am. But, honestly, I have to admit that child can argue like there is no tomorrow and surely features a future as a highly successful trial lawyer.

As my son's fascination with pirates grew, we found ourselves moving to an alternative town and buying a brand new house. The entire family was reveling within the glory of the home. I was giddy when i painted every room in the home with fresh, hip colors and applied vinyl wall decals for the nursery from the unborn sibling growing inside me. My hubby could hardly sleep nights as he planned his landscaping ventures for the next half a year, and our beautifully precocious son was charged with decorating his very own bedroom.

That's right. He could pick the colors, the theme, the art, the furniture. Everything was as much as him! A fantasy become a reality to get a four-year-old plus a true victory for his mom, who was simply likely to use her best skills to con him in to the little boy's bedroom of her very own dreams. When he requested pink walls, I gently reminded him that Peter Pan's favorite color was blue and wouldn't he enjoy having a blue room? Well, yes, in reality he did! As he chose Barbie vinyl wall decals, I opened up a huge selection of types of pirate-themed vinyl paintings. It wasn't well before his bedroom was turned into an actual pirate's cove. Vinyl wall art provided the inspiration as well as the art upon the walls. Swords regally marked the closet doors, a pistol pointed to the light switch, a jolly roger hung within the toy box. Since i have cannot call myself an artist, I'd are saying that vinyl wall decals saved me from walking the plank!
